Gracia: "We can only send out a message of hard work, effort and hope that things improve in LaLiga"
Javi Gracia spoke to VCF Media after Valencia CF's elimination from the Copa del Rey, and reflected on the defeat at the hands of Sevilla FC.
The result
"This was a tie in which we lost very early on, conceding several goals in the firt half. We continued with tension and working hard. It's a hame to lsoe our chance of continuing in the competition so early on, but the only thing we can do is keep focusing on trying to improve our league position. That's the objective we are continuing with."
Focusing on Elche
"We knew it before this game, and we still know it now. The importance of the next game doesn't change, and from now we are going to look to recover and prepare for the game against Elche as best we can -to try to earn the points that are available in that match."
Continuing with confidence
"It's obvious that we were on a run -up until the last game at home- in which we had won away and felt a little bit better, more confident and more secure. I'd like to continue with this spirit, despite us not having been able to gain a good result and go through. I'd like for us to continue with the confidence that we had and try to continue improving our results. I think that morale and confidence amongst the team is improving."
Ambition
"I was excited about the Copa del Rey. I wanted to continue in this competition. But in parallel there is a responsibility regarding the players that we have, and it is not possible to repeat lineups with this amount of games. This is our squad, with very young players, and there is no other way to learn than by competing. I am convinced that in the medium term it will pay off. Right now we can only send out a message of hard work, effort and hope that things in LaLiga will improve."
